Here's what we are doing for my mother-in-law this year. I wanted to share this with you, because it's not too late to make it yourself! It's easy, quick, cheap, and spiritually beneficial: a spiritual bouquet!

For those of you who don't know what a spiritual bouquet is, here is a great description. In short, instead of literal flowers, you are gifting the person with various prayers you are offering up for them. There are limitless possibilities, regarding both the prayers you chose and the way you present it to your loved one.
Here's what mine looked like:
If you can't read it, the "bouquet" contains two rosaries, two holy hours, one Mass, and one Litany of Loretto (a great one for Mother's Day). Feel free to copy this format!
If you'd like to make something like this yourself, these flowers are actually pretty easy to draw, even for the less artistically inclined. The key is to get a pen with the smallest point you can find (I used this one). They are meant to look imperfect, so don't try to copy a real flower unless you are pretty experienced. Copy a cartoon-rendering of a flower, and you will have a much easier time. I used this coloring book for some inspiration.
For supplies, I used blank artist cards, like these. (Disclaimer: I haven't used this specific brand before; I can't remember what brand the ones I have are!) These are a must to have around the house, especially if you have kids who like to paint or color. For almost any occasion (including Mother's Day!), you could have them decorate the card, saving you from buying an overpriced Hallmark card, and adding a personal touch sure to be special to the recipient (especially if they are a grandparent).
And that's it! It's not too late to make one of these and mail it out or deliver it by hand. Just don't forget to pray what you promised!
